Each set is a handcrafted limited edition work of art. Our artists and master craftsmen spent over a year creating the original sculptures and preparing to produce this extraordinary chess set. You will find it nowhere else on earth.

Even though it has the design and detail to be in a museum collection, it is very playable and kid tough (the knight's jousting lances are removable). We have spent the extra time and money to assure that this set is very durable and will last well into the future. They are made from a high impact and scuff resistant top of the line polyurethane plastic which is cast under pressure making them rigid but not brittle like fiberglass. The pieces are solid not hollow so they won't loose there shape in the sun. We are located in the northwest and we have left test pieces outside all year long, from below freezing to above 90* with no damage.
The pieces only weigh 2 to 3 Lbs. each. This makes them easy to move and light weight for shipping, but if you would like them heavier they have a compartment in the bottom to add weight or fun party favors. The base also has little feet that hold it up off the board so it can't trap water. Click CLOSEUPS & BASES in the side menu to see the pieces from all sides.
One of the great things about this set is that it was designed to go on a board made up of 12" X 12" squares ( 64 total ) of which your home improvement and flooring stores have dozens of choices available, from vinyl floor tiles to cement paver to Italian marble. The set is pictured on our 12"x 12" portable boards ( wood grain & black/white ) in the gallery above except some from our latest customers,some have 16"x 16" squares. So you can go any size you want depending on how far a part you want the pieces. For those who would like there set to be completely portable we offer three different choices of durable long-lasting, self-draining easy snap together boards.
